Our Story

Sustainable fashion. African heritage. Women-led since 2011.

Ledikana started in 2011. Not in a boardroom. In a workshop. With a needle, thread, and a question: what if African heritage could be worn every day?

Today, Ledikana is a 100% women-owned sustainable lifestyle brand with a physical presence at OR Tambo International Airport, City Lodge OR Tambo, and Sanctuary Mandela Boutique Hotel.

We are also on Takealot, Makro, and Proudly South African.

Why Ledikana?
- Because fashion should mean something.
- Because the women who make our products deserve more than a transaction.
- Because the world is hungry for South African design – but they want the story, not a copy.

We've been building since 2011. Not because it's trendy. Because it's right.

We turn waste into worth. Our bags are made from recycled PET plastic bottles — cleaned, shredded, melted into felt fabric, then stitched by women in Johannesburg and Limpopo.

Our prints tell stories. Babina Noko honours the Bapedi Nation. Shweshwe is 100% South African cotton. African Faces celebrates Ubuntu. These are not patterns. They are history you can wear.

We employ women from previously disadvantaged communities. They work from home, earn fair wages and build futures for their families. When you wear Ledikana, you wear their skill and their pride.

We make in small batches. Quality over quantity. Even our fabric offcuts are repurposed into soft toys. Zero waste is not a goal. It's our standard.
