Our Heritage
The Babina Noko print is a tribute to the enduring spirit and rich heritage of the Bapedi people. Inspired by the cultural legacy of the Noko — the porcupine, a revered totem of the Bapedi tribe — this design carries deep ancestral meaning. The Bapedi, whose roots stretch across South Africa and Botswana, honor great leaders such as King Thulare and King Sekhukhune I of Ga-Sekhukhune in Limpopo Province.
Every element of this piece, crafted by Ledikana, is a celebration of identity, resilience, and tradition. The porcupine quill motif is more than just a design — it is a symbol of wisdom, protection, and the timeless beauty of Bapedi culture. Woven with purpose and pride, this print embodies the soul of a nation and the artistry of those who honour its story through their hands and hearts.
